WhatsApp Web Designer — its source code, compiled extension files, stylesheets, theme configurations, preset names, and visual assets — is proprietary software. All rights are reserved.
The extension is not open-source and has never been licensed for reuse, redistribution, or modification. No part of it may be:
- Copied, ported, or reproduced in another product
- Reverse-engineered from compiled build files
- Redistributed under a different name or brand
- Used as the basis for a competing extension
Themes are original creative works. The specific combination of style values, configuration structures, and preset names is protected expression — extracting them, even from a public, compiled build, constitutes infringement.
2. DMCA Enforcement
Enforced June 8, 2026
In June 2026, a third-party repository published a commit describing itself as a byte-for-byte port of all twelve WhatsApp Web Designer themes. That repository was removed after a successful DMCA takedown notice was filed with GitHub.
